GASTRO-RL RABEPRAZOLE  + LEVOSULPIRIDONE

Mode of Actions:

Levosulpiride+Rabeprazole is used in the treatment of constipation.

 Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that suppresses gastric acid production in the stomach. It has several medical uses: the management of conditions that involve excess gastric acid production (e.g. Zollinger–Ellison syndrome), conditions that are worsened by gastric acid (e.g. ulcerations of the gastrointestinal tract), and conditions involving prolonged exposure to gastric acid (e.g. symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux disease).

Levosulpiride, this medication is an antipsychotic and prokinetic agent, prescribed for dyspepsia, gastro-esophageal reflux disease, and irritable bowel syndrome.

Levosulpiride is a substituted benzamide antipsychotic,reported to be a selective antagonist of dopamine D2 receptor activity on both central and peripheral levels. It is an atypical neuroleptic and a prokinetic agent.Levosulpiride is also claimed to have mood elevating properties.

Indications:

• Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease long-term management (GORD maintenance): For long-term management, a maintenance dose of Rabeprazole sodium 20 mg or 10 mg once daily can be used depending upon patient response.
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: The recommended adult starting dose is 60 mg once a day.
• Levosulpiride, this medication is an antipsychotic and prokinetic agent, prescribed for dyspepsia, gastro-esophageal reflux disease, and irritable bowel syndrome.
• Levosulpiride is a substituted benzamide antipsychotic,reported to be a selective antagonist of dopamine D2 receptor activity on both central and peripheral levels. It is an atypical neuroleptic and a prokinetic agent.Levosulpiride is also claimed to have mood elevating properties.
• Levosulpiride is a prokinetic which works by increasing the release of acetylcholine (a chemical messenger). This increases the movement of stomach and intestines, and prevents reflux (acid going up to the food pipe).
• Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in the relief of acid-related indigestion and ulcers.

Side effects:

Common side effects of levosulpiride + rabeprazole are Nausea, Stomach pain, Diarrhoea, Flatulence, Constipation, Headache, Dizziness, Weakness, Sleepiness, Flu-like symptoms.
