GASTRO-SL ESOMOPRAZOLE + LEVOSULPIRIDONE
Mode of Actions:
Levosulpiride+Esomeprazole is used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (acid reflux).
- Esomeprazole, is a proton-pump inhibitor which reduces stomach acid. It is used in the treatment of dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
- It decreases secretion of acid through inhibition of the H+/K+-ATPase in the parietal cells of the stomach. By inhibiting the functioning of this transporter, the drug prevents formation of stomach acid.
- Levosulpiride, this medication is an antipsychotic and prokinetic agent, prescribed for dyspepsia, gastro-esophageal reflux disease, and irritable bowel syndrome.
- Levosulpiride is a substituted benzamide antipsychotic, reported to be a selective antagonist of dopamine D2 receptor activity on both central and peripheral levels. It is an atypical neuroleptic and a prokinetic agent.Levosulpiride is also claimed to have mood elevating properties.
Indications:
- Triple therapy (w. amoxicillin + clarithromycin) for H. pylori eradication in duodenal ulcer disease. Short-term treatment and maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis (EE), symptomatic GERD.
- Short-term treatment of EE due to acid-mediated GERD in infants 1 month–<1yr. To reduce risk of NSAID-associated gastric ulcer. Long-term treatment of pathological hypersecretory conditions (eg, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome).
- Levosulpiride, this medication is an antipsychotic and prokinetic agent, prescribed for dyspepsia, gastro-esophageal reflux disease, and irritable bowel syndrome.

- Levosulpiride is a prokinetic which works by increasing the release of acetylcholine (a chemical messenger). This increases the movement of stomach and intestines, and prevents reflux (acid going up to the food pipe).
- Esomoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in the relief of acid-related indigestion and ulcers.
